You might remember her from the collabo Moss Moss with the late E-Sir. But Brenda is not as ‘slow’ as her music career has been when it comes to chilling in the best apartment.

Brenda has been ‘hiding’ at a cool two-bedroom apartment located in South C.

It’s a Sunday afternoon and the calm ambience one experiences on entering the house is a lovely relief from the hot weather outside.

Channel O is playing from her 42-inch Plasma TV at a low volume. "Welcome home," she says.

The living room is a fusion of African and modern themes. There are two black leather settees on two walls, complimented by a terra cotta rug at the centre.

Above one of the settees is a cherished large and serene miniature painting hanged on the wall.

"It cost me Sh9,000 from Tile and Carpet Centre on Mombasa Road. I like the vibrancy it gives my living room," she said.

The TV and radio system stand is on another wall, and on either side is an assortment of African art arranged in line, from small gourds to wood carvings.

A rectangular shaped aquarium with seven small gold fish dominates the other wall, which has an opening leading to the rest of the house.

Right next to the aquarium is another profoundly treasured item: a deep-red artistic flower vase.

The kitchen is simple; the curtains are drawn and a cooker is evidently missing from its allocated indent. Brenda clearly spends the least time there.

Between the living room and the kitchen is a corridor leading to the bedrooms. Its walls have decorated mirrors and an marvelous shell collection on a woven wall hanging. She bought it from Dubai for Sh800. It looks more expensive than that. On the left is the guest bedroom. It’s swaddled in beige, and neatly arranged, even though it is used once in a while by friends spending over.

Directly opposite is her bedroom, colour coded elegant burgundy. Several accessories on the bed, like matching cushions, add to the finishing touch of the room. Of the colour incorporation of the bedrooms, she says that though it’s a pretty contrast, it just happened haphazardly.

Brenda is looking for ideas to make her bedroom a bit musical and also wishes she could borrow an idea she saw somewhere of aquarium bathroom walls.
